Sumner Road time-lapse video 1 – catchbench earthworks (6 months work in 2min 28sec)

Check out this time-lapse video taken by McConnell Dowell Constructors of Doug Hood Mining Ltd excavating the rock-fall catchbench above Sumner Road, Christchurch.

This video starts about a week into the catchbench excavation and ends several weeks before completion but you can see the challenges of one-way-in, one-way-out, traversing a 45 degree scree slope, continuous drill and blast cycles, pilot track progressing, all below the crater rim rockface.
