Gavin Begg retires as Plant Manager after 43 years of service

Gavin joined the Company in 1982 as a diesel mechanic in Ashburton. Throughout his time with the company Gavin has had a significant and lasting impact on the productivity and profitability of the Company, maintaining the open-cast mining and earthmoving fleet both on-the-tools and at all levels of management. He has enforced a strong fiscal discipline and a no-bullshit approach to the mechanical culture of Doug Hood Mining Ltd. He leaves the Company with a well resourced and maintained fleet and the respect of his peers both inside and outside the Company.
